Every Man is a Saint on His Way Out the Door

It's sad to watch the typical white-washing of corrupt and dishonest preachers when they pass from this earth. Jim Bakker is no exception to this unfortunate tradition.

There was a brief moment when Bakker first got out of prison where he had focus, he saw what he did wrong, and he wanted to speak out about things like the inhumanity of incarceration and the prison system. He was poised to turn his life around and do something important.

Then, I guess he had to pay the bills, so he just went back to fraud. It was sad to watch. He spent his last years on late-night television hawking buckets of barely edible, freeze-dried slop to frightened old white people, promising them a fighting chance at surviving an apocalypse he convinced them was coming.

I snorted when I read Justin Caffier call him a "a Rapture-themed infomercial salesman."

Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, penned a piece for WOLRD magazine in response to Bakker’s death, noting that “he lived a most interesting life.”

Fuck off, Al. Just for kicks, I looked up what Al had to say when Ravi Zacharias passed. At least he's consistent.
